Slate Roof – West St. Paul, MN
While working in the neighborhood, our Project Manager, Andy Sanford, noticed this home’s beautiful slate roof—but also significant damage, including missing and cracked tiles. After connecting with the homeowners, we discussed a full exterior solution to restore both function and appearance. Located in West St. Paul near Highland Park Golf Course, this was a complex, multi-trade project requiring scaffolding, lifts, and coordinated crews. Our field supervisors ensured each phase was completed in the correct order for a seamless result.
We replaced the slate roof using Vermont Slate Cupa 14 tiles with all copper accessories to preserve the home’s original character. Additional upgrades included new copper standing seam eyebrows, flat seam copper dormer roofs, built-in high back copper gutters, and replacement of EPDM roofing sections. We also re-sided and re-trimmed dormers with updated materials for a cohesive finish.
During the project, we identified and resolved a hidden leak source, fully repairing and sealing the affected area. To complete the transformation, the homeowners opted for interior and exterior painting, bringing new life to the entire property.
This project showcases Summit’s expertise in high-end, detail-driven exterior work. With its new slate roof and copper craftsmanship, this home is built to last for decades to come.
