Steel Siding

Most commonly used in the residential market is the traditional lap siding. Panels are formed to replicate the look of wood siding. Most are stamped with a wood grain pattern and come in a wide range of lap sizes, from 4”-8”. Panels can be ordered up to 16’ in length. Long panel lengths reduce the amount of seams on a project.
Board and Batten is a panel that is installed vertically rather than horizontally like the lap siding. This profile also aims to replicate the traditional wood board and batten siding and the panels are typically stamped with a wood grain. Panels are only 10’ in length so some planning need to take place if it needs to be installed on larger sections of the home.
These products are simple for a professional installer to hang and the product itself isn’t as expensive as some other siding options. It would be considered a middle of the road option for the price point.
Shake look panels are also available in steel, with varying lap sizes from 7”-12” to replicate the look of real cedar shake and shingle siding. They come in stamped 4’ panels but seams are hidden in the Keyways between shakes. Shake look steel products are typically 3-5 times the cost of traditional steel lap siding. They take about 3 times as long to install. This product would be considered expensive and is typically used as an accent on the home.
Modern steel siding
Steel planks siding is built to replicate shiplap or nickel gap wood siding. It can be installed horizontally or vertically. The panels stack flush on top of each other using a tongue and groove like locking profile. This leaves a thin recessed line between panels. Combined with the smooth face, this product makes for a sharp modern aesthetic. This is a heavier steel than typical siding and is moderately more complicated to install. This is a luxury option that comes at a relatively high price point.
Standing seam makes for as great of a roof as it does wall cladding. Panels will be custom built to the spec required for the project. Panels will be made to the height of the wall and installed vertically with no seams. The pan width as well as the seam height vary between different profiles. Uses clips between panels to mount to the wall, concealing all fasteners. This is an expensive material and a complicated install. High price point.
Flush panels are a top-end custom wall cladding option. They come in different sizes, profiles, patterns, etc. These panels are installed on battens or with a clip system. Very high price point.
These panels are prefinished in the factory. The paint is baked on. Life expectancy of these finishes are 30+ years.

Was a seamless process and very professional. We will be using them for our siding replacement next.
See attached photo for evidence of workmanship where the original wood edging and metal work required repair and then the new tile has been positioned for a perfect fit.

The roofing and gutter crews were prompt, professional and tidy. The work was completed flawlessly. I highly recommend Summit Construction and especially the project manager, Christian Decker.
The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and left everything spotless once the job was done. The quality of the roof is exceptional, and Durham took the time to walk me through the materials, process, and warranty so I felt completely confident in my decision.

I hope we don’t have another project like this for a long time, but if we do, Brett will be my first call!
